What a wonderful time we had in the mountains near Creede, CO this past week. Just starting to turn green there, and early in the season, so uncrowded and peaceful! That’s Nancy & Dave’s rig in the foreground of the first photo at Silver Thread National Forest Campground, and us tucked back in the trees. Notice the photo of our campsite… Nell found the last patch of snow! She claimed this spot, and each day it melted until no longer a cool spot remained for her… guess she is still a Colorado, cold-weather dog.
One day we toured Creede and took in the sights of the historical mining town. We ooohhhed and aaahhhed at the rock formations, old mining structures. Left: Tom, Dave, Nancy. Center: Nancy & Dave
Tom SO enjoyed the good fishing at Rito Hondo and Continental reservoirs… caught his limit of trout each day.
As some of you know, one of my favorite Colorado spots is the “headwaters” of the Rio Grande. Had to show the view area to Nancy and Dave, and took photos of each of us there.
Now, we will take this week here in Alamosa to get some projects done, pick wild asparagus, visit with family and friends. Plan to do a bit of site-seeing, also… out to the Great Sand Dunes, for one thing.
Next week, we head to Albuquerque so Tom can be fitted for a new prosthesis… his is beginning to be worn out, and some lost pounds make for a not-so-right fit anymore. The process of molds, forms, fittings and all takes about a week, and we will do our “big city” shopping and stocking up while there before heading into the mountains near Durango at Vallecito Reservoir.
Best wishes to all… keep in touch! Dianne & Tom

Now, I'll try inserting a photo of Tom showing off his first fish of the season... a nice little brown trout that we will have along with our dinner tonight.

After lots of snow and cold weather through most of April, we are SO enjoying bright blue skies and warmer temps. We have spent a good past week in Alamosa at the home of friends Marilyn and Braxton... parked on their property (see photos below) and enjoying a bit of time with them (will add their photo later).

Our first visitors in the Valley were long-time friends, and fellow RVers, Bobbie & Jim... we enjoyed a good catch-up visit, shared stories and adventures, and Bobbie helped me a bit with bringing this blog to life but, oooohhh... I need lots of help with learning how to work the layouts, as you will notice below :) Patience, please, as I am working at this...
We enjoyed time with our youngest grandchildren, Lucy and Obie. Lucy was two in January, and Obie is four months old. Such beautiful, happy children! Daughter, Kayla was down from Cheyenne for the week, so we got a little time with her, also. Kayla and daughter-in-law Kate came with the children to "our house" for dinner... missed Ryan, as he had to work... looking forward to time with him soon!

When passing thru Monte Vista, we had a wonderful visit with cousin Marjie at our rig!

Now we are headed out with RV friends Nancy & Dave for a week exploring Creede, Colorado... probably won't have much cell or internet service where we are, and will update later (after I learn more!!!). Bye for now...

Today, three other couples we met in Quartzsite in January joined us... so fun to get together again.
Left to right... Julie & Mike, Tina & Jeff, Lynn & Roger, Dianne & Tom... a mini-reunion of our Quartzsite group of the "Classless Class." And, to think... we thought we might be all alone out here on our RVing adventure. It is truly a joy to catch up with other fulltimers along the way.
